Hospice Peterborough offers support series for people dealing with cancer or other serious illnesses, their family and caregivers.

Hospice Peterborough develops new groups as community needs arise.  
Please call to tell us what kind of group you would find helpful.

  Men's Support Group

Wednesday mornings 10:00am-11:30am.  For men living with a life-threatening illness.

 4 - 6th Annual Hike for Hospice
      Millennium Park
      We are looking for volunteers to help make this
      day a great success.  If you are interested in

Wednesday mornings 10:00am-11:30am.  For women living with cancer.

 
 
 

Adult Grief Recovery Groups

Starting in January 2008:

Grief Recovery Level 1
Mondays 1:00pm-3:00pm or Wednesdays 4:15pm-6:15pm
A 10-week group that enables individuals to receive support from others who have experienced the death of a loved one.

Grief Recovery  Level 2
Mondays 10:00am-12;00pm or Tuesdays 4:15pm-6:15pm
A 12-week group for people who have completed Level 1.  Examines some of the more complex aspects of grief recovery.

Grief Recovery Level 3
3rd Tuesday of the month 11:45am-1:45pm or 3rd Wednesday of the month 7:00pm-9:00pm.  For people who have completed Levels 1 and 2.  Meets informally monthly for ongoing support and encouragement.

 
 
 

Groups for Children and Youth

Just for Kids
For kids who have a loved one living with a life-threatening illness.  Call Sherry for more information.

More for Kids
For children ages 8-15, an expressive arts and activity evening on the last Tuesday of the month from 6:30pm-8:00pm.  This group is for kids who have been in or are waiting for a grief group.

Children's Grief Group
An opportunity for those aged 6 to 12 to explore the meaning of the death of a loved one and develop ways of coping.  Tuesdays, early evening, beginning in February.

Teen Grief Support Groups
These 7 session groups helps teens 13-19 years of age learn ways to cope with the death of a loved one.  Monday evenings 7:00pm-8:30pm, beginning in January.

 
 
  Lunch Group for the Recently Bereaved

Are you looking for a place to be yourself without explanation?  Do you need companionship on your journey through grief?  Do you need information?  Join Sherry and Jamie on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month at 11:30am for one hour.

 
 
 

T'ai Chi Chih

Every Monday at 5:15pm.  Joy Through Movement for clients, caregivers and volunteers.  This class will help you learn a moving meditation that focuses on circulation and balance.

 
 
 

Gentle Exercise

Every Friday at 1:00pm.  For clients, caregivers and volunteers.  A fitness specialist offers easy and gentle exercises that everyone can do.

 
 
 

Day at Hospice

Every Wednesday 10:00am-3:00pm.  Our day program provides a comfortable place where participants living with advanced illnesses benefit from taking part in activities that are supportive, creative and therapeutic, as well as fun.

 
     
  Caregiver Education Series

Monthly education presentations on topics of interest to our clients.  Call for times or to register.

 
     
  Lunch for Recently Bereaved

An informal lunch held on the 1st and 3rd Friday's of the month at 11:30am, to share information and companionship.
