The work of Hospice Peterborough is carried out under the direction of both staff and volunteer professionals including a medical advisor, spiritual advisor, social worker, client care facilitators (RNs), bereavement coordinator and volunteer coordinator. It is the responsibility of this group to ensure that quality hospice care is provided to clients and families, and that information and resources are available to others in the community involved in palliative care. Some of the services that Hospice can provide or facilitate include:

  • providing information and support to those living with life-threatening illness
  • developing and implementing a plan of care
  • advocating for client's needs and rights
  • consulting on pain and symptom management
  • coordinating volunteers
  • arranging for family therapy, spiritual or pastoral care, bereavement support, and group support
  • linking clients with related community services/agencies
