Hospice Peterborough Announces Campaign Chair
Peterborough, ON – The Board of Directors is delighted to announce that Betty Morris has accepted the role of Campaign Chair for the $6.5M Hospice Care Centre campaign. “Betty has been a long standing volunteer and supporter of Hospice Peterborough”, said Bill Graham, Board Chairman, “She brings significant experience to this role and we are delighted that she has accepted the position”.

In addition to her volunteer work with Hospice Peterborough, Betty is also involved with the Community Foundation of Greater Peterborough as Treasurer and Board member. Her past volunteer roles include: Co-chairing the YWCA Crossroads Safe Haven Campaign, Chair of the YWCA Board of Directors, Lakefield College School Trustee and Grove Society Chair.

Betty is a retired CA and has held positions with KPMG, Canada Development Corporation, Kidd Creek Mines and PriceWaterhouse. Betty owns and operates a yoga studio in Peterborough. “I am pleased and honoured to have been asked to fill this role for Hospice Peterborough. The construction of a Hospice Care Centre for Peterborough and Counties is critical to our community.” said Morris. “Over the next few months we are focused on recruiting the campaign cabinet. We hope to announce more details in the next few months.”

The Hospice Peterborough Care Centre will be located at 325 London Street at Reid. The old Victorian home on the property drew Hospice to this site and Lett Architects designed a facility that will incorporate this home as part of the new Care Centre. A common reception foyer will connect the home with a newly constructed 10 bed resident care area which will be located on the east side of the property. Hospice private bedrooms will have windows overlooking trees and gardens and innovative elements are incorporated throughout the design. The Hospice Peterborough Care Centre will become a hub for the delivery of integrated hospice palliative care services in our community, services that will support individuals and families through serious illness and grief, and the health care professionals who provide this important care.

Since 1988, Hospice Peterborough has provided hospice palliative care outreach and support and bereavement services to those living with life-threatening illness and grief in the City and County of Peterborough. More than 23 programs and services, partially funded by the Central East LHIN, are offered to the communities of Asphodel-Norwood, Cavan Monaghan, Douro Dummer, Havelock-Belmont-Methuen, North Kawartha, Otonabee-South Monaghan, Lakefield, Selwyn, Trent Lakes, including:
