Cancer Support

Cancer Support Service:

Professional staff offer individual and group support for anyone living with cancer from the time of diagnosis through the continuum of the disease process. Staff and trained volunteers also provide support to family members and caregivers. No referral is required. Simply phone or drop in. There is always someone at Hospice who can provide support during our business hours, Mon – Fri, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. (or other times by appointment).

Hospice Peterborough provides:

·        An extensive lending library of books, journals, videos, and access to the Internet. Topics include information on various cancers, treatments, nutrition, emotional and spiritual support, complementary therapies, and caregiver support

·      Facilitated cancer support groups for women and men

·      Caregiver support

·      A day program for anyone living with advanced illness. The day program includes support groups, lunch and planned activities in the afternoon.

·      Workshops such as Massage, Journal Writing, Meditation, Pain and Symptom Management

·       Volunteer visiting

·      Information on other community agencies that might be helpful. E.g. Cancer Society, Peterborough Community Access Centre, Community Care

In order to respond to the needs of the community, we are always interested in hearing from you about other services that we could develop to support people living with cancer.
