‘Heeney House’ Dedicated as Hospice Peterborough Capital Campaign Enters Final Phase

Peterborough – Close to 100 Hospice Peterborough board, volunteers, staff and community supporters gathered on the afternoon of September 10 to celebrate the success of the Every Moment Matters capital campaign to build the Hospice Peterborough Care Centre and to launch Bring It Home, the final phase of the campaign. Kicking off the Bring It Home phase was the naming of the community programming wing of the new Care Centre. ‘Heeney House’ was dedicated in honour of long-time community leader and hospice supporter Goodith Heeney. Hospice Peterborough Palliative Care Volunteer Training Sessions

Are you interested in working directly with Hospice clients and their families?

Hospice Peterborough is offering an introductory orientation session in September to learn more about this unique opportunity to volunteer. Call to register to attend on Wednesday, September 14th or Thursday, September 22nd. Following an interview process, you may then be invited to join the hospice volunteer training which will begin in October for 10 weeks (3 hours weekly in the afternoon).  You are invited to launch Bring It Home – the final public phase of the Every Moment Matters Campaign. September 10th from 3pm to 5pm at our 439 Rubidge Street location.

For over 25 years, Hospice Peterborough has been a trusted resource for those living with, or affected by, life-threatening illness or grief in the City and County of Peterborough. We enhance comfort, dignity and quality of life, and in 2015-16, our staff and volunteers served 1,767 community members. Keene Lions Present Cheque towards their $6K commitment!

A big THANK YOU to the Keene Lions Club for their $6,000 commitment to the Every Moment Matter Campaign! A portion of their three year commitment was raised during their Toll Road on May 20th; below is the cheque presentation from June 7th at the Keene Lions Hall.

THE LINDA’S FLASH THE KASH!!!!

‘Paul’s Left Ball Fore’ fundraiser amused audiences at Market Hall on Thursday, April 28th raising $3,000 to support Hospice Peterborough’s Every Moment Matters Campaign.

This sold out performance featured Linda Kash, Lisa Lambert, Deb McGrath, Patrick McKenna, Colin Mochrie, The Citiots Improv, Beau Dixon, Dan Bronson and many more including an Improv group from Linda’s Peterborough Academy of Performing Arts school.

For the past 4 years, Linda Kash and friends have celebrated the life and work of her husband, the late Paul O’Sullivan.

Paul O’Sullivan, was a much beloved actor and comedian known for stage performances in such Toronto productions as Second City, The Producers and The Drowsy Chaperone.

Linda Sunderland, Executive Director offers “A HUGE Hospice THANK YOU to Linda and the cast of Paul’s Left Ball Fore. It’s an honour to be the recipient of your talent and community spirit”.

Hospice Peterborough Announces Investment from Scotiabank for Hospice Care Centre

The Board of Directors of Hospice Peterborough and the Cabinet of the Every Moment Matters Campaign are thrilled to announce Scotiabank’s investment in Hospice Peterborough’s new Care Centre.

“Scotiabank and its employees have a long standing tradition of supporting and giving back to the communities in which we live and work. On behalf of Scotiabank, we are very proud to support Hospice Peterborough and the tremendous work they do in providing support and care to the families and individuals in our community.” stated Michelle Power, Scotiabank Peterborough Community Manager.

Linda Sunderland, Executive Director of Hospice Peterborough, continued, “10 years of planning and thanks to Scotiabank’s contribution Hospice is that much closer to breaking ground on our dream. Their major gift of $40,000 is truly appreciated and we are excited to recognize their support with a named opportunity at the new Care Centre.”
